Established in 1866, Wesley College is an internationally recognised Uniting Church coeducational school with 3,350 students on three metropolitan sites.

The Wesley College at Clunes residential program provides our Year 9 students with the opportunity to learn about themselves, the wider community and our Australian culture in the unique setting of the small Victorian town of Clunes, 35 kilometres northwest of Ballarat.  The focus for the 8-week program is upon education of the whole person. Emphasis is given to experiential, social and emotional learning, independent inquiry, community engagement and shared living.

Applications are invited from outstanding teachers for the position of Teacher at Wesley Clunes, commencing Term 2, 2019. Teachers with a background in the arts, social sciences or education outdoors are encouraged to apply.

This position is offered as a Residential Appointment and accommodation suitable for a family will be available. Consideration will still be given to applicants who would prefer to live off-site.

In making this appointment, the College is seeking applicants who, among other qualities can demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in school teaching roles, preferably within middle school and/or residential educational contexts
  • A strong background managing students in practical and applied learning settings
  • Success as a pastoral leader, able to lead students in maintaining student well-being
  • Understanding of the social and emotional learning needs of adolescents
  • A proven ability to inspire students and to engage staff, parents and the community
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and/or experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme
  • A personal presence and highly effective communication skills in relationships with students, staff and parents
  • A capacity to enjoy the rich diversity of daily life at the school and to contribute to the overall success of the program
  • An understanding and commitment to a residential learning environment and a willingness to work across a seven-day roster, including some night and weekend shifts
