Job Description
Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools. With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and engaging Outdoor Education Teacher for a temporary full-time opportunity from 12th September 2025 until 28th November 2025. This position is working with Year 8 students at our Lochend Outdoor Education site, which is near Portland overlooking Discovery Bay and Lake Bridgewater. We welcome applications from individuals who are innovative, inquiring, and enthusiastic, and have a genuine commitment to professional and personal growth and development. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and collaborative team of outdoor education professionals working with students in Years 3 to 10.
To be successful as the Outdoor Education Teacher at the Lochend Camp, you will require the following:
- VIT Registration including qualifications in Outdoor Education, Wilderness First Aid, Bronze Medallion, Medium Rigid Bus license.
- Qualifications and/or experience in a range of outdoor activities including bushwalking, canoeing, caving, surfing and environmental activities
- The ability to undertake Risk & Safety Assessments in relation to the offered activities is essential
Work will be undertaken across a variety of shifts and including sleepovers and other night work during campouts with the students. Accommodation and meals are provided onsite whilst camps are in session.
