Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is a diverse, dynamic, coeducational learning community with more than 3,350 students aged between 3 and 18 years. The school offers a rich and comprehensive program promoting not only excellent academic results, but also a concentrated focus on the Arts, Sport, Outdoor Education and Community.
Wesley comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
This exciting leadership opportunity has become available following the internal promotion of the Head of Junior School to Head of Campus, St Kilda Road. The College now seeks to appoint a dynamic and experienced educator to lead the Junior School from the beginning of the 2026 school year.
Reporting to the Head of Campus, St Kilda Road, the Head of Junior School is responsible for leading a teaching and administrative team for ECLC – Year 4. A member of the Campus Executive and the Campus Curriculum Committee, the Head of Junior School holds responsibility for staff management, pastoral care and the academic performance of students in the Junior School.
The Principal is seeking an individual of outstanding professional calibre who demonstrates:
- A proven ability to lead and inspire students from ECLC – Year 4
- Leadership experience including the ability to act with integrity, responsibility, professionalism, trust and confidentiality
- A broad understanding of the development and educational needs of young people
- A deep appreciation of the particular learning styles, social and emotional needs of Junior School students
- Familiarity and experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable, but not essential
- A personal presence and highly effective communication skills in relationships with students, staff and parents
- A capacity to enjoy the rich diversity of daily life at the school and to contribute to the overall leadership of the campus
The Head of Junior School is expected to maintain a teaching role within the school.
