Job Description
Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools. We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Systems Librarian to join our Library Services team. This role is strategic and cross-campus, with a primary focus on Booklist coordination and LibGuides design, alongside oversight, innovation, and continuous improvement of all Library-related systems and digital platforms. This is a 0.4 FTE temporary position, operating as a job-share, commencing Term 1, 2026 and concluding Term 4, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic development, oversight, and integration of all library systems and digital platforms (e.g., Accessit, ClickView, LibGuides, WiSE pages).
- Manage the Library Management System, ensuring data integrity, system enhancements, and integrations.
- Lead system audits, needs assessments, and annual usage reviews to support continuous improvement.
- Oversee library budget management, procurement, subscriptions, and licensing in partnership with Digital Learning Practice and ITS.
- Coordinate the campus booklist in consultation with teaching staff and textbook providers.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for library systems; mentor other library staff.
- Lead training initiatives for staff on library systems, research tools, and digital platforms.
- Develop and maintain procedural documentation, digital research guides, and LibGuides.
- Act as liaison with College departments for library systems integration and represent Library Services in College-level forums.
- Provide student support, including research, referencing, and general library inquiries.
- Contribute to the culture and life of the campus as an integrated member of the community.
Position Requirements:
- ALIA-recognised Bachelor Degree or Graduate Diploma in Librarianship with systems expertise.
- Demonstrated experience managing and troubleshooting library systems in a school or similar environment.
- Essential: strong proficiency in HTML and CSS.
- Experience in liaison, negotiation, and understanding user requirements of systems in educational settings.
- Excellent organisational, time management, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support staff.
- Knowledge of current and emerging library technologies, including AI, with the ability to apply them positively in educational programs.
- Current Working With Children Check and National Police Certificate.
