Job Description
Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools. With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
The College is seeking to appoint a Librarian for a 0.6 FTE part-time position at our St Kilda Road Campus supporting Middle School classes. This is a temporary position for Term 3 & 4 2026.
The Librarian plays a vital role in supporting student learning by working collaboratively with teachers to deliver engaging library programs and develop inquiry-based approaches to learning. This includes partnering with staff to supportLibrary lessons and resource curriculum units, fostering literacy and a love of reading, and supporting students' research and referencing skills.
Key responsibilities include:

Working with teachers to support and resource inquiry-based curriculum.

Promoting literacy and reading for pleasure.

Supporting students in research and the use of digital tools and databases.

Managing and curating print and digital resources that align with curriculum needs.

Delivering tutorials and professional learning on library services and tools.
The successful applicant will have:

A degree or graduate diploma in Librarianship.

Strong understanding of curriculum, literacy, and inquiry-based learning.

Highly developed ICT skills and experience with digital learning tools.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and students.

A current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration (or eligibility), incorporating a Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
